February 2025 Enhancements

Camping Merit Badge

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

At some point in the last year, the BSA introduced a significant change to requirement 9.a, which specifies how many nights of camping are needed to earn this badge.  Fortunately, Miranda Hoogendoorn of Troop 4103 of Los Altos, California, noticed this change and reported it to us in a support ticket.  Thank you, Miranda!

Prior to this change, scouts could only count up to six nights from just one long term campout toward this requirement.  Any other long term campouts were simply discarded in the calculation.

The revised requirement allows you to count two nights each from any additional long term campouts!

This has been implemented in TroopWebHost in two places:

As shown below, the "Long Term Camping Nights" column of the Camping Merit Badge Camping Nights report may now show more than 6 for a given scout.  If so, the additional nights were from other long term campouts.

Camping Nights Report

There is a nightly job that automatically awards requirement 9.a to any scout who has completed 20 camping nights.   If the scout had not already begun work on Camping merit badge, the current version of that badge is automatically added to their list of "in progress" badges.

The logic of this job has been modified in the same way, counting two nights from any additional long term campouts.

Expired Medical Forms Report

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

This new report may be found on the main menu at Membership → Medical Reports → Expired Medical Forms.

It includes every scout, adult leader, and merit badge counselor for whom:

For the purpose of this report, an adult leader is any adult member who currently holds a leadership position.

Multi-Sport Merit Badge

New merit badge

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The new Multi-Sport merit badge is now available in TroopWebHost.

This exciting new badge encourages scouts to participate in one of the following multi-sport formats:

Sea Scout Rank Requirements

New merit badge

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The Sea Scout rank requirements have been realigned in TroopWebHost to match the requirements used in Scoutbook.  This allows you to upload Sea Scout advancement data from Scoutbook into TroopWebHost.

Many of the Sea Scout requirements give you a choice of two tasks, like "Do this OR do that".  Scoutbook treats each of those options as a separate subrequirement.  TroopWebHost now does the same.

Cub Scout Special Adventures

This feature only applies to Cub Scout sites.

TroopWebHost now supports the new Cub Scout Special Elective Adventures for archery, sling shot, and bb gun.  These adventures are available at each age level.

These adventures may only be earned at designated Scouting America sites, each of which may develop its own version of the requirements.  That is why all of the official requirements look like this: "Review with Scouting certified rangemaster."

Each special elective adventure has eight such requirements.

Inventory Categories

Several years ago we added the ability to define categories for inventory.  So, for example, you might define these categories for troop equipment:

You can then assign a category to each inventory.  Which turns out to be a great way to organize your inventory!

These categories are now visible when you check out inventory items on the website, as shown here:

Inventory categories are also visible in version 2.1.6 of the TroopWebHost Mobile App.

Mobile App Version 2.1.6

Version 2.1.6 of the TroopWebHost Mobile App is now available for free at the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

This version includes:

Reload Data in Mobile App

The "Refresh Data" button on the Home page has been relabeled "Reload Data".  Rather than perform an incremental backup, it now performs a complete data reload from the server.  This should solve any data synchronization errors you might experience.

This is now identical to the "Reload Data" function on the General Settings page, which may be removed in a future release.

Inventory Categories in Mobile App

The "In" tab of the Library and Equipment pages shows those items currently in stock that are available to be checked out.

This list is now organized by category.  Tap on the category to see all of the items in that category that are currently available for checkout.

The numbers to the right of the category name indicate:

So, in the above example, if you were to tap on "Tent", you would see the five tents current in stock, out of the ten total tents owned by the troop.
