New Newsletter Options

The Newsletter Settings tab has two new options:

• Omit the banner image
• Omit the Planned Activities

Both of these options are disabled by default.

We have seen many TroopWebHost sites with huge banner images which really make the Home page pop!   That same banner image also gets added to the top of every newsletter, which the recipients have to scroll through to see the actual newsletter.

The new Omit the home page banner image from the heading?   option does what it says, it prevents the newsletter from displaying the banner image.

We have also seen many sites that use the Planned Activities on events to provide a detailed, lengthy description of the upcoming event, complete with photos, maps, and other images.   This can take up a lot of space in the Upcoming Events section.

The new Omit the planned activities text from Upcoming Events option will remove that description from the newsletter.

ACH Confirmation Page

In the summer of 2022 we implemented a new Square payment option which allows members to do low cost ACH bank transfers into their troop's checking account.  This has become a very popular feature with many troops.

Square recently upgraded their API to allow us to communicate the amount of the desired transferred.  This, in turn, allows Square to provide this information on a new payment confirmation screen, as shown here.

If you are not already using Square for on-line payments, you may want to consider adding it.  It is easy to set up and easy to use.

Only Square gives you the ability to do ACH payments, for which the fee is only 1% with a minimum of $1 and a maximum fee of only $5.

Upload Training From My.Scouting.Org

The Upload Training From My.Scouting.Org page allows you to upload training data from five different files that can be exported from My.Scouting.org.

A month ago, Scouting America (formerly "BSA") changed the headers in all of these export files.  This caused errors when users attempted to upload the files into TroopWebHost.

Fortunately, some of those users attached their files to a Support Ticket, which allowed us to identify the changes and modify our software accordingly.

The Upload Training From My.Scouting.Org will now work with either the old or new formats now.

If you run into a problem uploading any file into TroopWebHost, please open a Support Ticket and be sure to attach the file.

2025 Merit Badge Updates

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

All of the 2025 Merit Badge updates are now available in TroopWebHost.

For twenty four of these badges, the changes were significant enough to require us to create a new version in TroopWebHost.  The old version is still available, but has been renamed to look like this: Astronomy (2013 rqmts)".  Scouts who were in progress on an old version will still be linked to that version.

Merit badge counselors who supported an old version of a badge will also show the new version on their list.

Seventeen badges had minor changes which we incorporated into the existing versions.
