Did you know that half of our
entire server workload is the servicing of calendar subscriptions? When you set up your iPhone Calendar (or Google Calendar, or Outlook, etc.)
to subscribe to your unit's calendar, that calendar app automatically requests a new copy of your entire calendar from our server
several times a day. This adds up to over a million requests every week!
Last month we added a third server to increase our overall capacity. This month we added one more server. This server is not intended to increase our capacity. Instead, it acts as a switch, or "load balancer", to route all of the calendar requests to the other new server.
This freed up our primary webserver - which is a monster of a machine - to respond more quickly to the rest of our load, which will make your website much more responsive.
TroopWebHost now utilizes four dedicated servers to support our 2,400+ scouting units.
Over 100 troops, crews and packs voted for this feature on our Enhancement Request List. They wanted an easy way to process a scout who left the unit that handles their parents at the same time.
This new function is available when you update a scout from the Active Scouts page, or an adult from the Active Adults page.
Select the person from the list, then click the Deactivate All Family Members button, as shown above, to open the Deactivate Family page.
This function will:
The Date Left Unit should usually be set to a date in the past. If you set it to a future date, the user IDs for all members will still be deleted immediately, but the members will otherwise still appear on lists of active members until the date you provided.
The Family Members To Be Deactivated grid lists all of the members who will be affected by this function. Note that it shows the current account balance for each member. You should let your treasurer know when you deactivate members with a non-zero balance. They can still enter transactions for those accounts after the members are inactive.
There is no UnDo option. Do not try this out on your data unless you are prepared to manually restore it.
When you press Deactivate All Family Members NOW, it will immediately take effect. There is no "Are you sure?" prompt.
This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.
Earlier this year we announced the ability to configure Activities to track community service hours.
You can now add a widget to your Events Hub (or any appropriate hub) to display past service activities for which attendance has not been finalized. To add this widget, go to the hub page, start edit mode, and add a widget section that selects the "Data Window - Events - Activity Attendance Not Finalized" widget, as shown below:
When you exit edit mode, this widget will display any past service activities for which you need to take attendance.
Click the edit button to open that activity and finalize attendance.
This feature only applies to Cub Scout sites.
The Firem'n Chit award may now be earned by Cub Scouts who are at the Arrow of Light (AOL) level.
