May 2024 Enhancements

Mobile App Version 1.8.4

Version 1.8.4 of the TroopWebHost Mobile App is now available - free of charge - at the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

Highlights of this new version include:

We will talk more about some of these features below.

Sign Up For Stuff To Bring

This feature only applies to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The TroopWebHost Mobile App now allows Cub Scout and Girl Scout users to sign up for Stuff To Bring on an Event.

As shown above, when you open an event that has Stuff To Bring, you will see two new sections:

Next to each item in the Stuff To Bring list are two numbers.  The first indicates the number of members who have signed up for this item.  The second indicates the maximum number needed; if there is no second number, then there is no limit for this item.

Tap on an item to sign up for that item, and see who else has already signed up.

If the event is still in the future and the limit has not been reached for this item, you will see a Yes/No toggle.  Choose Yes to sign up for the item.  You will then have the option to add a comment.

The "Commitments" section of this page lists all of the members who have signed up for this item.

Meal Plans and Scheduled Activities

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The TroopWebHost Mobile App now displays the Meal Plan and Scheduled Activities on the event detail page.

When you open an event that has a meal plan and/or scheduled activities, you will see a new "Activities" section.

Tap on an item to see the details.

Sign Up For Activities

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

If an activity is configured to allow members to sign up, you begin the process by tapping on that item.

Parents can sign up their scouts for activities.

If the event requires sign up, you won't be able to sign up for an activity on that event until you are signed up for the event.

If the activity is limited to the members of a patrol, only those members will be allowed to sign up.

Once the activity has begun, you will no longer be able to sign up for it.

Sign Up For Board of Review

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

Activities are a great way to manage a Board of Review.  We showed how to do this from the website in our March newsletter.

Scouts (and adult leaders) may now sign up for a Board of Review activity from the TroopWebHost Mobile App.

When a scout signs up for a Board of Review, they can indicate the rank for which they are applying.

Just tap the edit icon on the Rank line to select the rank from a pop-up list.

Take Attendance For Activities

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

Scouts can earn service hour credits from some activities.  We recommend that you always take attendance for such activities to ensure the accuracy of these credits.

Once a service activity has begun, open that activity and tap the Take Attendance For This Activity button, as circled above.

If you've already taken attendance for this event, then this page will only show you the members who are at the event.  If the activity was limited to a patrol, then you will only see the members of that patrol.  Otherwise, you'll see everyone.

In any event, those members who signed up for this activity will appear at the top, followed by everyone else.

Just like all of the other Take Attendance pages in the mobile app, there are two tabs at the bottom of the page to select scouts or adults.

When attendance is complete for both scouts and adults, tap the Finalize Attendance button.

Credit For Service Activities

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The Activity tab of the individual advancement page in the TroopWebHost Mobile App summarizes this scout's current totals for all of the categories that are tracked in TroopWebHost.

These totals now include service credits earned by participating in an event activity.  If your site is configured to require that attendance be taken before credit is given, then attendance must have been finalized on the activity for it to be counted.

If you tap on the category, you will see the individual events on which the credit was earned.  This will now include activities.

Google Search in User Guide

In all of the TroopWebHost User Guides, the search box now appears in the upper right corner of every page.

This function is now powered by Google Search.

Type your search criteria - or question - into the box, then click the search icon.

A window will pop up containing the results.

The search results may include pages from the TroopWebHost monthly newsletter.

Click on the result to open that page.

Virtual Meeting Link in Event Reminder

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

When the Covid crisis began in 2020, TroopWebHost added the ability to save a Virtual Meeting Link for an event.

We now include this link in the event reminder for any event that has one.  This allows the recipient to open the virtual meeting directly from the reminder.
