December 2023 Enhancements

2024 Merit Badge Updates

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The BSA recently announced changes to the Scouts BSA program that will take effect on January 1, 2024.  This included numerous changes to merit badge requirements, which have now been implemented in TroopWebHost.

The following merit badges had such significant changes that we needed to create a new version in TroopWebHost:

Scouts who were in progress on any of the above badges will still be linked to the version they were working on, which will now have a name that shows when that version took effect, e.g. "Bird Study (2019 rqmts)".

The prior version will still be available in TroopWebHost for three years.

If a scout wants to switch to the new version of a badge, you will need to add the new version to their list, check off the corresponding requirements that were already completed under the prior version, and then delete the prior version from their list.

Update All Pages For Cub Scouts

This feature was already available in Scouts BSA sites.

The Update All pages make it easy to update specific pieces of information for all of your members on one page.

The following Update All pages are now available to Cub Scout packs using TroopWebHostCS:

Each of these pages displays all of the active members on a grid on which some columns are modifiable.  Here is an example of the Update All → Medical Form Date page:

Enter the current information for anyone on the list, then click the Save button to save this information.

Shift Compliance Report

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

Last summer we announced the Event Compliance Report, which allows you to verify that all participants on upcoming events are qualified to attend based on the latest BSA regulations.

We now have a similar report for upcoming shifts.  To generate this report, please go to Calendar → Event Reports → Shift Compliance.

Similar to the Event Compliance Report, this report only shows the members who have signed up for each upcoming shift for whom there may be one or more compliance issues.  It will only include scouts whose medical forms are missing or not up to date for the length of an overnight event.

Adults may appear on this report for any of the following reasons:

This report is intended to help you spot issues with medical forms, training, and BSA registration before the shift occurs.

Guest Count On Event Hub

This feature was already present in the Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The Event Hub includes two widgets to display the number of scouts and adults at recent and upcoming events.

We have two new versions of these widgets that include the number of guests:

To replace your existing widgets, open the Event Hub and go into edit mode.  Click the Settings button on that section and choose the new widget from the Widget Type dropdown list.  Then click OK to save your changes.  It's just that easy!

Group Credit From Event

This feature is now available in the Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The treasurers of Cub Scout and Girl Scout units may now create group transactions to credit the participants of an event.

Select the event from your calendar (it must ben an event for which event type allows monetary transactions) and scroll to the bottom of the page - below the transaction list - to see the new button.

Click on this button to initiate a group transaction to credit the participants.

This can be used to refund previous charges for the event, or to credit scouts for their participation in fundraisers.

Group Transaction Security

The ability to create a group transaction is usually limited to users authorized for the Treasurer user role.

Some scouting units may wish to give their event organizers this capability, but only to charge or credit the participants on an event.

A new security task allows you to do this:   "Enter Group Transaction For An Event".

To authorize this capability for one or more user roles, please go to Administration → Security Configuration → Assign Tasks To Roles.  (Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites will find this same function at Site Configuration → Security Configuration → Assign Tasks To Roles.)

Find "Enter Group Transaction For An Event" on the list and click Assign To Roles on that row.

Put a checkmark next to each role for which this should be authorized, then click Save & Exit.
