Units that support the Sea Scout program can now track advancement in TroopWebHost for the four Sea Scout ranks:
The Sea Scout advancement pages can be accessed from a new button on the Individual Advancement page.
There is a new tab on the bottom that will take you to the Sea Scout section, from any of the detail pages of Individual Advancement.
The Sea Scout buttons and tabs will take you to the Sea Scout pages for the selected scout.
The Sea Scout advancement pages work the same way as the Scouts BSA rank advancement and Venturing advancement pages. Simply checkoff each requirement as it is completed. When all requirements are marked complete, the system will mark this rank as complete.
The History tab shows you the scout's progress through the Sea Scout ranks.
As you would expect, completed Sea Scout ranks will be included in all of the advancement recognition reports.
From the My Stuff menu, scouts can now select My Sea Scouts. This will take them to a collection of pages where they can view all of the requirements for each Sea Scout rank.
Requirements that they have completed will show the completion date in the "Earned" column on the right.
When parents go to My Stuff → My Scouts, they will now see buttons that take them to the Sea Scout advancement pages for each scout.
This new report is available on the Requirement Reports submenu. It includes any scout who has completed at least one requirement for any Sea Scout rank.
Due to the number of requirements, there can be more than one page for each rank. The requirement numbers are listed across the top of each page. An "X" indicates a scout who has completed that requirement.
At the end of the report you will find a glossary that provides a brief description of each requirement number.
This new report is available on the Requirement Reports submenu. It includes any scout who has completed at least one requirement for that Sea Scout rank.
There will be a separate page for each scout, showing the requirements still needed for each rank they are working on.
This new report is available on the Requirement Reports submenu. It lists every requirement for each Sea Scout rank which at least one scout needs to complete.
Under each requirement, it lists the scouts who need to complete that requirement.
You may recall from our January newsletter that hubs can be customized for each site. So when a new widget becomes available, you can choose to add it to your hub.
Sea Scout ships should consider adding the new Sea Scout widget to their Advancement Hub. This widget lists all active scouts in the unit, with a link to their Sea Scout advancement page.
The name of this widget is "Data Window - Advancement - Sea Scouts".
We added a similar widget for Venturing crews. This widget lists all active scouts in the unit, with a link to their Venturing advancement page.
The name of this widget is "Data Window - Advancement - Venturing".
Part D of the BSA medical form was discontinued many years ago, but we continue to have a field for tracking the date that form was submitted, primarily because many units are using that field now to track other information.
We renamed this field to "Other Medical Date" to reflect this reality.
When you create a sales campaign, if you check the box Must have inventory on hand before orders allowed, users would not be shown any items for which the quantity on hand was zero. But for items that were available, it did not prevent a user from ordering more items than were on hand.
This has been corrected on the two primary on-line order forms, so that you may no longer order more units of an item than are currently in stock (again, assuming you checked this option on the sales campaign.)
For fundraisers, the ScoutSales.org site will now display an error message if the user tries to order a quantity greater than the quantity on hand.
For sales to members only, the Buy Stuff From Troop page will throw a similar error.
In both cases, the error is displayed after the user submits the order form.
Scouting units that plan to sell Pecatonica River Popcorn for their fall fundraiser will be glad to learn that we've updated this National Sales Campaign with their latest product offerings.
When you create your sales campaign for this fundraiser, select "Pecatonica River Popcorn" from the drop down list for National Sales Campaign. Then, when you go to the "Items For Sale" tab, click the Add Merchandise From National Campaign button. This will copy all of the Pecatonica merchanidse into your sales campaign, including photos and descriptions.
Once you do this, please review all of the pricing information, as this may vary from council to council.
