You may now inventory the skills and interests of the adults in your unit. This can help you identify potential volunteers for positions in your unit, such as:
You can customize the list of available Skills and Interests by going to Site Configuration → Skills and Interests.
Feel free to rename or delete any of the items already on the list, which we simply provided as examples.
Once the list is complete, you can encourage the adults in your unit to go to My Stuff → My Skills and Interests to check off the items that apply to them, plus add any pertinent comments.
You can then view everyone's skills and interests by going to Membership → Skills and Interests.
From there you can print a report, grouped by skill/interest.
We added several new security tasks for this feature:
We made two major changes to our Journey To Excellence reporting this month:
With the exception of objective 3, "Retention", all JTE statistics are supposed to be compiled on a calendar year basis. So, for example, if you are running the JTE report for 2019, most statistics should be calculated for the year that begins January 1, 2019 and ends December 31, 2019.
Prior to this month's revisions, we had been computing all statistics using the start and end dates of the selected Recharter Year. Which worked out pretty well for troops whose charter year ends December 31, but was incorrect for all other troops.
We therefore disconnected JTE from the Recharter page and created a new Journey To Excellence page, which is available from the Membership menu.
When you add a new JTE reporting year, you select the JTE report definition, and then select the starting and ending recharters for computing the retention statistics of objective 3.
Which recharter years should you select for Objective 3? It depends on when your charter year ends:
If your unit's charter year ends on December 31: You will compare the registered membership at the beginning of this calendar year to the registered membership at the beginning of the previous calendar year. So, for example, if you are producing the 2019 Journey To Excellence report you will compare the registered members as of January 1, 2019, to the registered members as of January 1, 2018. This is not a typo! The BSA really does want you to calculate this objective based on your previous year's experience.
If your unit's charter year ends in any other month: You will compare the registered membership as of the recharter that occurred within this calendar year to the registered membership from the previous recharter. So, for example, if you are producing the 2019 Journey to Excellence report and your charter year ends May 31, you will compare the registered members as of June 1, 2019, to the registered members as of June 1, 2018.
You may have noticed the Troop selection box in the last screen image. This will only appear on sites that are shared by a boy troop and a girl troop.
In this situation, many of the objectives will be computed based on the membership of the selected troop. The exceptions are events: we do not currently have a way to assign events to one troop in a shared site, so those statistics are still calculated based on all events in your calendar. You should carefully review the worksheet to make sure you are computing those objectives correctly.
The Print button on the Calendar page now lets you select a range of months to print, beginning with the month that is currently displayed. When you click this button a screen will pop up, asking you for the last month in the range to print.
