April 2024 Enhancements

NYLT Eligibility Report

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

This new report allows you to see which of your active scouts are eligible for National Youth Leadership Training.

In order to attend NYLT, a scout must be:

Before you run this report, make sure your Training Course for NYLT has its Course Code set to "S78".

To produce this report, go to Membership → Training Reports → NYLT Eligibility Report.

Click on NYLT Eligibility Report to generate the report.   The report will compute the eligibility of each member based on the date you entered.  .

Copy Event Includes Activities

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The Copy Event and Copy Monthly Event functions were both upgraded this month.

Both functions now copy the activities defined on the original event, advancing any dates forward in time to correspond to the dates of the new events.

Optional Banner On Fundraiser Page

When you create a fundraising campaign you can solicit orders on-line at ScoutSales.org with a personal URL that points to your fundraiser.

If you have uploaded a banner image to your TroopWebHost home page, that same banner is displayed on the opening page of ScoutSales.org.

But what if your banner image is not appropriate for the public sales page?  You now have the option to disable this feature.

On the fundraiser campaign, just uncheck the box (circled above) "Display banner?", then click Save & Exit to save your changes.  Your banner image will no longer display on the ScoutSales.org page.

Newsletter Performance

The program that produces your personalized newsletters has been upgraded to run significantly faster.  This allows it to do a better job of keeping up with demand, especially on Sunday, which is the most popular day for newsletters to be scheduled.

Does this mean your newsletter will now go out exactly at the time you requested?  No, it probably won't.  The newsletter still takes some time to process each troop - after all, it has to be personalized to each recipient - so depending on where you are at in the queue, it may still be delayed somewhat.  But it should arrive closer to the scheduled time than it used to!

For those who are interested in the technical details of what we did:

Event Reminder Performance

This feature does not apply to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The TroopWebHost event reminders are generated by a program similar to the one that produces the newsletters.  The performance of this program has also been significantly improved in the same fashion.

In addition, the activities block now recognizes some of the new features introduced in last month's newsletter.
