iCalendar Event Invitations
This month we added the ability to send invitations to upcoming events via e-mail using the iCalendar interface, which allows the recipient to add it to their personal calendar and send their acceptance back to the troop.
We're going to tell you all about it, but first we'd like to thank our latest subscribers:

Please contact us at info@TroopWebHost.com with your questions and suggestions.
When you do, please mention your troop number and city in your message so we'll know exactly who you are.
Send E-Mail, SMS or Both
You now have the option to send a message only to e-mail addresses or SMS text addresses or both.
Since SMS is limited to 160 characters, those addresses will only receive the Subject line; they will not receive the body of the message.
Send Yourself An Invitation
You may now add an event to your personal calendar by sending yourself an e-mail invitation.
Select any future event from the Troop Calendar and then click the Send Me An Invitation button as shown above.
In a few minutes, you should receive an e-mail from TroopCalendar@TroopWebHost.org inviting you to the event; if you accept the invitation, the event will be added to your personal calendar.
Invite The Troop To An Event
At the bottom of this same page page, you'll see that the E-Mail Undecideds button is now Invite Undecideds.
This same button is also available from the Sign-up List tab on the Event detail page, which you access from Add and Update Events.
In either case, the button will take you to a page to compose an e-mail to the members of the troop, with the undecided members pre-selected to receive the message. If you just added this event, that
should be everyone in the troop.
This page will generate an e-mail just like the Send Me An Invitation button, which will contain an invitation to this event.
When a troop member receives this message, their e-mail client will give them the option to Accept or Decline the invitation as shown below.
If they Accept the invitation it will be added to their personal calendar.
Regardless of whether they Accept or Decline, the system should then ask them if they want to send a response. The response will update the troop's database to show whether this member plans to attend.
Note that the system will generate an invitation to each selected troop member, even if that person shares an e-mail address with another family member. This is because the invitation is personalized to each troop member, and
their response must be for an individual person.
The Subject line of the invitation indicates for whom the invitation was sent; when you Accept or Decline the invitation, you will update the status for that person.
Also please note that the E-Mail Participants button will still send a conventional e-mail message, since you will normally not need to send an invitation e-mail more than once.
Thank you for your support!
