My In BoxMy In Box
My In Box

My In Box is a new addition to the E-mail menu.

This gives every member of the troop a place to view messages that they've received from the troop web site.

Click on the Reply button to compose a reply to everyone who received that message.
Text MessageText Message
Text Messaging

Many scouts carry cell phones and are more likely to read a text message than an e-mail.

Troop e-mail messages can now be sent to SMS text mail accounts, in addition to two e-mail accounts per person.

The membership pages now allow you to enter an SMS text mail address for each scout and adult.

An SMS text mail address looks like this: 2395551212@vmobl.com. The first part is the cell phone number and the second part is the domain name for that cell phone company.

A list of cellphone company domain names can be found here: sms411.net

Troop e-mails will be automatically be sent to each recipient's SMS account, if one has been entered, as well as to their e-mail accounts.

Video Gallery

A special "thank you" goes out to Tom Hogevoll from Troop 454 of Davidsonville, MD, for suggesting this new feature.

Tom pointed out how easy it is to create a link to a video that you've uploaded to YouTube. After you've uploaded the video, you should see an <Embed> button on the right side under the video frame. Click on that button to open a window that contains all of the HTML needed to link to that video.

When you return to your troop website go to Photo Gallery --> Create Video Links, select the event at which the video was taken, and paste the HTML into the Video HTML Link field.

Your video will be immediately available from your Video Gallery page.
Tour Permit WorksheetTour Permit Worksheet
Tour Permit Worksheet

Most of the information you need to fill out a tour permit is available in your database, but until now it was not accessible from one place.

The new Tour Permit Worksheet solves this problem by pulling together the details of the planned event, including adult leader contact information, driver's licenses, insurance, and training.

Let us know if there's anything else you'd like to see on this new report.
Other New Features

  • Estimated Cost Per Person may now be entered for any event and displayed from the calendar.
  • BSA Membership Number may be entered for any member of the troop.
  • Training expiration date is automatically calculated on classes with a renewal requirement.
  • The order in which photos are displayed in the photo gallery may be changed by entering a sequence number on each photo. Photos that do not have a sequence number will default to 999, so enter a lower number to move a photo to the front, and a higher number to move it to the end.
Thank you for your support!
