Thank You For A Great Month!
We officially launched TroopWebHost at the beginning of September after two and a half years of rigorous testing, first with my son's
troop, Troop 119 of Fort Myers, FL, and for the past year with Troop 86 of Sumter, SC.
Thanks to you, it has been an exciting month.
First, I want to thank the four troops that subscribed to our service in September:
- Troop 40 Evans, GA
- Troop 152 Vienna, VA
- Troop 186 Lenexa, KS
- Troop 500 Hallsboro, NC
Next, I want to thank everyone for your comments and suggestions. There have been far too many great ideas proposed for us to
implement all of them right away, but I'd like to let you know about what we've already done.

Adult Training History
We already had the ability to track which adults had completed the Youth Protection and Fast Start programs, but we
weren't logging when they last completed the course.
This new feature on the Troop menu can be viewed by any of the adults in the troop, but you must be authorized for
Advancements or Membership to add or update the information in this table.
The form shown at left allows you to log a BSA class that an adult leader completed.
Use the Query button to find everyone who is certified for a particular skill, or who needs to renew their Youth Protection training.
Please let us know what additional
classes we should make available on the list.

Make Copies Of An Event
When you set up your calendar for the coming year, you'll naturally want to include all of your weekly meetings.
But entering each individual meeting, one by one, could take a lot of time.
We've made that a lot easier with the Copy Event function, now available from the Activities menu for those users
authorized for the Event Planner role.
Select an existing event that you want to copy into the future and tell it how many copies you want to make. The new
events will be projected forward in time, so you can create a year's worth of meetings in just a few seconds.

Create E-Mail Groups
There is a new function on the E-Mail menu called E-Mail Groups. This is available to all members to
send e-mails to a particular group.
Users who are authorized for the Membership role can create and maintain these groups.
They could, for example, create a group called "Committee Members" and another called "Scoutmasters."
Then any troop member can easily send an e-mail to everyone in that group.
In other parts of the site, you will find similar functions that allow you to:
- Send an e-mail to everyone that signed up for an event.
- Send an e-mail to every member of a selected patrol.

Hacker Prevention
The login screen automatically locks out any user who fails repeatedly to enter the correct user ID
and password to access the site.
This is intended to prevent hackers from slamming the site with lots of different combinations of user IDs
and passwords to try to find one that works.
We recently modified this feature to release the lock after an hour has passed, so that legitimate users
are not locked out permanently.
