New Web Server

We replaced our web server with a new 32 core Intel Dual Xeon Gold 6226R processor with 128GB of memory.  The new processor can support 50% more concurrent sessions, with a 50% increase in clock speed.

Translation:  we significantly increased TroopWebHost capacity and performance.

This is the server that responds directly to web pages and the mobile app API.

Next month we plan to replace our database server with a new Intel Xeon ES-2620, which will double the throughput of that element of our configuration.

This is good news for our existing customers, who may see some performance improvements, especially at peak times.  It also gives us the capacity to continue adding new customers, so please keep recommending TroopWebHost to your fellow Scouters!

Square Reference Update

If your site is configured to accept credit/debit card payments via Square, you may have noticed a change in the value being posted to the Reference field of the resulting monetary transaction.

The reference value now contains the Square receipt code, the credit card type, and the last four digits of the credit card number. Here's an example:

This should make it much easier to match the payment information in TroopWebHost to that same payment in your Square dashboard.  This is especially important when you need to issue a refund.

Balances For On-Line Payments

This feature is not applicable to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

Parents using the On-Line Payments page now see the balances for all family members when they initiate a payment, as shown below.  This includes the primary balance, the reserve balance, and total balance.

Previously we only displayed the total balance, which created potential confusion for troops that use reserve subaccounts to set aside payments toward summer camp or high adventure trips.

Announcement Summary Widget

Do you often have a lot of announcements active at the same time?

If so, you may want to consider using our latest widget, "Announcement Titles Only".  As shown below, this widget just displays the title of the announcement, with a link to the full announcement text.

This is similar to the way announcements are displayed in the TroopWebHost mobile app.
