Two new reports have been added to the Event Reports submenu:
These reports identify scouts who have signed up for an event which requires parental permission, for which that permission has not yet been given.
This applies to any event for which the event type requires either a permission slip or electronic permission.
Here is an example of the Permission Needed By Event report:
This feature is not applicable to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.
The Event Type has a new option that will cause the system to automatically send an e-mail reminder to the parents of a scout who has signed up for an event of that type if their parents have not given permission to attend. This option is only available if any of the two previous options ("Display Permission Slip Checkbox..." or "Enable Electronic Permission") has been selected.
To implement this feature, go to Site Configuration → Event Types, update an event type, and look for this option:
The reminder is sent the day after the scout signed up for the event. The reminder is sent to every adult linked to that scout, except for those with a relationship of "Advisor". It is only sent once, unless an event leader uses the function described in the next section to force new reminders to go out for an event.
Here is an example of a permission reminder email:
Please note that when you implement this feature, email reminders will go out for all future events for which scouts need permission. Only one email will go to each parental email address, with a summary of all the permissions needed, as shown in the above example.
This feature is not applicable to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.
Once you've implemented permission reminders, as described above, authorized leaders will see a new button when they view an upcoming event on the calendar.
Pressing this button will cause permission reminders to be sent for all scouts who are signed up for this event who still need permission. These reminders will not be sent immediately. They will be sent the next time the permission reminder job runs.
This button will only be visible to leaders who are authorized for a user role that is authorized for the "View Participant Permission Slip Status" task, or the "Site Administrator" task.
This feature is not applicable to Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.
In August we added Sea Scout advancement to the website. Sea Scout advancement is now also available in version 1.7.7 of the TroopWebHost mobile app, which is available for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
When you select "Rank" on any advancement page, you will now see the "Ship" option in the bottom right corner, as shown below.
This button will take you to the Sea Scout ranks. Tap on a rank to see the requirements.
Android Users: the problem with display lengthy formatted text has been solved with this release.
We added a third tab to the Enhancement Requests page which allows you to view all of the enhancement requests that have been completed since we created the Enhancement Request module in 2018. For each enhancement we show you the announcement that went out to the users who voted for that enhancement. The most recently completed enhancement is shown at the top of the list.
Of course, this newsletter is also a great way to view completed enhancements. It includes some new features that weren't on the enhancement request list, and it goes back to the founding of TroopWebHost in 2009!
