Mobile App - Account Balances

The TroopWebHost Mobile App now has the ability to display account balances.  Scouts may view their own balance.  Parents can view their own balance as well as those of their scouts.  Users who are authorized for treasurer tasks will be able to view all member balances.

If you are using subaccounts, the first balance shown will be the primary balance, which is the sum of all non-reserve subaccounts for this individual.  This is labeled "Available Balance", as shown below.  If more than one subaccount contributes to this balance, those subaccounts are listed below the balance.  We then show the balance of each reserve subaccount.

If your unit doesn't use subaccounts (which we have not yet implemented for Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts), the app will show one balance per person.

You may also authorize some users to view member account balances when viewing the participants on an event, as shown below.  If you specified a subaccount for the event, you will see that subaccount balance for each member.  Otherwise, you will see the primary account balance (which doesn't include reserves) for each member.

These features are controlled by new security tasks, which can be assigned to users roles using the Assign Tasks To Roles page:

Mobile App - Faster Upgrades

When you upgraded to earlier versions of the TroopWebHost Mobile App, the app automatically started a full download of the entire database, replacing every table in its entirety with a new copy pulled from the server.  For some users, this could take many minutes.

Starting with version 1.5.3, the app will still perform a data refresh when you install a new version, but this will only be an incremental refresh - pulling only that data which has changed since your last refresh - for most tables.  Only those tables with structural changes in this release will be subject to a full download.

This should make installing new versions much faster.

Maintain Skills

The Skills Inventory is a great way to identify ways for parents to contribute to the troop.  From My Stuff → My Skills and Interests page, any adult can check off the items (which your troop has configured) to indicate areas where they are knowledgeable or skilled.  You can then use this information to identify potential scoutmasters, merit badge counselors, or committee members.

We recently made this feature easier for administrators to manage.  The Membership → Skills and Interests page has two new buttons:

Update By Member will display a list of your adult members.  You can then click on any member to view the skills list for that member, where you can check or uncheck the skills that apply to this member.

Update By Skill is very similar, but begins by displaying the list of skills.  For any skill, you can then view a list of adults and put a checkmark next to each member who has that skill.

Public Only Sections

Your Home page - and any of your custom pages - is composed of one or more sections.  You've always been able to control whether visitors who have not logged on to your site can view a given section by using that section's Public Access setting.

We recently added a new option to this setting.  "Public Only" is only visible to visitors who have not yet logged on.  A "Public Only" section will disappear once the user logs on to the site.

Members of your troop probably don't want to see sections aimed at recruiting new members, for example.  This allows you to drop those sections once they're logged on.
