December 2020 Enhancements


Mobile App - Switch Accounts


The TroopWebHost Mobile App now allows you to switch between different accounts without logging on and off each time.

This will be very useful if...

This feature is available from the General Settings page, as shown at right, which you access by tapping the cog icon from the Home page.

Tap the Log On To New Account button to save your current account and log on to a different one.  This will take you to the page where you select your scouting unit; you will then be prompted for the user ID and password of the new account. You will only have to do this once for each new account.

When you return to the General Settings page, you will now see any previous accounts that you've saved under the "Switch To Another Account" heading.  Tap on an account to switch to it.  The system will perform a quick refresh of that unit's data, then display the Home page.

If you no longer need to access an account, switch to that account and then log off.  That will remove it from the list of available accounts.



Mobile App - View Announcements


If there are any current announcements that you have not yet read from the mobile app, they will appear at the top of the Home page, as shown here.

Tap on the title to see the entire announcement.  When you return to the Home page that announcement will no longer appear.

Once all current announcements have been viewed, you will a link to all current announcements at the top of the Home page.



When you enter announcements from your website, you may now designate whether each announcement should appear in the mobile app, as shown below.


Mobile App - View Video Tutorials


A question mark icon now appears in the upper left corner of the Home page.

Tap on this icon to open the YouTube website to view video tutorials that show how to use every function in the app.

A similar icon appears on the first log on page.

You must have internet access to use this feature.



Mobile App - Tap Logo To Return Home


Tap the TroopWebHost logo at the top of any page to return to the Home page.

This works from any page after you've logged on to the mobile app.




Mobile App - Sign Up Guests


When you sign up for an event on the mobile app calendar, if the event is configured to allow guests, you may now enter the number of guests each participant plans to bring.

This field will appear only when that participant has signed up for this event.  Tap on the edit icon to the right of this field to open it up for entry as shown at right.

Tap Save to save your changes.




Mobile App - Update Your Scouts


Parents who open the My Account page and scroll to the bottom will now see a list of other family members, as shown at right.

Tap on the name of any family member to update their contact information.




Mobile App - Emergency Contacts


The My Account page now allows you to update your emergency contact information.

Parents may also do this for other family members, as described above.




Mobile App - Directory Search


When you open the Directory page you will see a new option at the bottom of the page.

Tap Search to open an input field where you may enter a portion of someone's name.

The list will shrink to only include members - adults and scouts - whose name includes that string of letters.

As before, you can tap on any name to view the details.




Mobile App - Activity Credits


After you take attendance for an event, you can enter credits for camping nights, service hours, hiking miles, and other activities.

This capability is available to any user who is authorized for a user role that is authorized for the "Mobile App - Feature - Enter Activity Credits" task.

If you are authorized for this function - and if the event is configured for any of these credits - you will see an Activity Credit button when you select that event from the Calendar.  Tap on that button to see the page shown at right.

You cannot change the number of camping nights for an event.  The system calculates that value based on the start and end date of the event.

But you can change the values for other types of credits by tapping the edit icon next to that field.


All scouts who attended this event will have these credits posted to their record.  If any participant did not earn this number of credits, tap the Override Individual Credits link to enter their values, as shown below.




The override page lists all members who attended this event.  Tap the edit icon next to a person's name to change the value for that person.

This is only necessary for scouts who earned a different number of credits than the value you entered for this event.

Server Upgrade

TroopWebHost operates on two high-powered servers located in a secure data center in Lansing, Michigan.

We recently doubled the size of the secondary disk drive on the database server, which will allow us to continue storing two weeks of daily database backups on-site, along with two days of hourly incremental backups.

These backups are also copied to an off-site storage location as part of our comprehensive disaster recovery strategy.




User Guide Makeover

The User Guide has a new look!  It's sleek, streamlined, and works well on any size screen.

The menu is now hidden when you're not using it, as is the search input box.

The current chapter name is displayed in the top center of the page.  You can click on it to go to the first page of this chapter.

If you're using a touchscreen device, like a cell phone or tablet, you can swipe left or right to go to the next or previous page.
