February 2022 Enhancements

Guidance For New Subscribers

This feature is not yet available for Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

TroopWebHost sites created after February 18 have a new initial Home page, which will make it easier for new subscribers to get started.

The middle section of the Home page changes after you log on:

What you see above is the first of seven announcements that are pre-set for each new site, all of which have an End Date set to ten days from the day you purchased the site.

These announcements are:

Each announcement has numerous links to the User Guide pages that show how to accomplish that step.  Some announcements also have a link to the Hub where these functions may be performed.

The Quick Menu for the user who ordered the site is pre-set to point to the Hub pages.  The default quick menus for other new users are now pre-set to the pages that new scouts and adults will need, respectively.

If you know any troops who are thinking about moving to TroopWebHost, please let them know it just got a lot easier!

Revised Startup Checklist

This feature is not yet available for Cub Scout and Girl Scout sites.

The Getting Started chapter of the User Guide has been updated to provide better direction for new subscribers.  Many pages have been revised, including the Startup Checklist.

The new Startup Checklist reflects our experience guiding new TroopWebHost subscribers through this process over the last twelve years.  As before, you can download the checklist as an Excel spreadsheet.

Mobile App Version 1.6.7

Version 1.6.7 of the TroopWebHost Mobile App is now available for free at the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

As shown above, when displaying a member's contact information, you can now tap on an icon to copy their address into the clipboard.  This can then be pasted into a map app on your phone to get directions.

In addition, this version now supports awards, like "Mile Swim", that can be earned more than once.

When a user's security authorization changes to allow sign-off, the corresponding advancement data is automatically downloaded.

New locations now download when you open the calendar.

Webelos and AOL adventures and badges now show up properly.

New Girl Scout Badges

This feature is only for TroopWebHostGS sites for GSA troops.

Twenty four new badges were added for Girl Scout sites, including Math In Nature, Digital Leadership, and Cookie Business.

Take Attendance controlled by Event Type

You can now use the Event Type to control whether you will be prompted to take attendance for an event.

When we added this new attribute, we updated your site to turn it on for all event types that:

This attribute is turned off for all other event types.

Please go to Site Configuration → Event Types to review and update the settings for this new field.

This attribute controls whether an event will appear in the "Attendance Not Finalized" widget on the Events Hub.  It also controls whether an event will appear in the Take Attendance page and whether a Take Attendance button will appear when you open an event from the calendar.

It does not currently have any effect on taking attendance from the TroopWebHost mobile app.

Dashboards are now "Hubs"

Last month we introduced a new type of page that we called "Dashboards".  These pages present a collection of data grids and menus to help you manage every aspect of an entire TroopWebHost subsystem, like Membership or Advancement.

After we rolled this out, we realized that the term "Dashboard" is more typically used to describe a page that displays performance metrics with charts and statistics.  Our new pages better fit the definition of a "Hub", so we changed the name everywhere (including on last month's newsletter!)
